PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
In order for you to participate in the WISH program you must agree and adhere to the following criteria:
- Age Requirements: The Primary Home-Sharers must be at least 18 years old.
- Location: The home to be shared must be located on Whidbey Island.
- Space Requirements: If you are considering acting as a home provider, your home must have at least two bedrooms: one for yourself and at least one for the home seeker(s). You must decide if the space is to be furnished or unfurnished and make sure it is ready to be occupied.
- References: For your protection, WISH requires both parties to provide three character references. References must be from people who have known the potential home sharers for at least two years.
- Criminal Record Check: WISH requires that all parties must undergo a criminal background check. WISH will conduct this check as a service to both parties. If you have not been a resident of Washington State for the past two years there will be a charge to conduct the check. Note: Individuals convicted of a Felony are not eligible to participate in this program.
- Waiver and Release of All Liability of WISH: WISH provides information about home-sharers based on information received and assumes that such information is accurate. WISH does not verify all of the information received. WISH cannot and will not be responsible to you should any information be wrong, or should anything go wrong between the home-provider and the home-seeker. The decision whether or not to home-share and with whom you home-share, is totally your responsibility. The information and documents provided by WISH are only to assist in helping you consider the material aspects of home-sharing. Accordingly, please read carefully the Waiver of Liability Form.
- Home Share Application Forms and Agreements: You must complete all the forms requested by WISH to assist in making your match. You must also complete and sign the Home-Share Agreement Form in order for the match to be completed. These forms act as a guide between you and your home share partner and they bring to your attention aspects in your shared living arrangement. They will also assist you in putting that arrangement in writing.
- Commitment to Communicate: You must communicate with the WISH Staff and with potential house sharers that contact you directly. This is essential in making the process work. Your application will be inactivated if it has been more than 2 months since we have heard from you. If this should occur, you may contact us again to reactivate the application.
